These delicious treats were a gift from the kind folks at Brad’s Raw Chips, who agreed to send me some of their flavors to sample. Thank you, Brad & Co.!

When I first spotted these chips online, they seemed to look a whole lot like the juice pulp crackers I make at home. I love those guys, but the thing is, my schedule hasn’t allowed me to juice consistently for months now (it’s pretty much a weekends only treat), and with the lack of juicing comes a lack of juice pulp with which to make crackers, falafel, etc. Brad’s Chips seem to be made just like my juice pulp crackers are made: veggies, flaxseed, salt, pepper — simple! (Brad adds some buckwheat flour). And Brad himself has a very inspiring story, from SAD diet to raw. You can imagine how excited I was to get these guys in the mail!

Lately I have been having an internal conflict about certain products that I regularly suggest as “cruelty-free” options for women on a budget. This consists of clothes, shoes and accessories from chain stores such as Forever 21, H&M, Target and other corporations that offer hoards of clothes for incredibly affordable prices. Although these products are technically vegan, it is more of an accidental side effect of cheap mass production. Sure $20 shoes are wonderful for our wallets but what effect do they have on the rest of the world?

On July 4th I had the pleasure of hanging out with Leanne Mai-Ly Hilgart, the fabulous mind and soul behind Vaute Couture. We were talking about her designs and I couldn’t help but fawn over her line of tees. I have the “For the love of dog, adopt!” tee and have been waiting to buy one of the new tanks that came out in May. These were featured in Marie Claire, are organic and have either a bunny or a sheep on the front. So perfect for summer to keep cool and keep animals close to your heart. If you are more into message tees, she also has tanks that say, “let’s widen the circle” and “the life of a lamb.”

You know you’re addicted. I have been hooked on the stuff since I was about 12. A few hours without it leaves lips dry, cracked and yearning for more. It is a common epidemic, and most of us struggle with it every day. Lip gloss addiction is a serious matter! What’s worse than the addiction is the harmful chemicals and funky animal ingredients that lurk in most glosses and balms. You will find that once you switch over to a natural lip treatment, the dry and cracked lips mend themselves and your addiction becomes less physical and remains just psychological.

My apartment is approximately 390 square feet. For those of you reading this who don’t happen to also reside in NYC, you might be thinking, “but wait, my upstairs bathroom is that size!” Yes, but I live in downtown Manhattan. Small apartment or no small apartment, it’s pretty fun to live here. Especially once you look at my “menus” drawer and see the huge array of vegan cuisine that is all just one phone-call and nice tip away. I’d take that over room for a treadmill any day.

Plus, right down the street, we store our stuff. What you think of as a basement or attic (I think I saw those on TV once), I think of as “the storage unit.” And not just any storage unit…
