Fashion Goes Vegan This October In Albany

On the rare occasion that I watch a fashion show (on TV, not in real time, lest some “extreme” animal activist throw red paint on my faux fur!*), I often think, “That girl’s skinny ass has GOT to be vegan!” But it isn’t. And she’s wearing anally electrocuted minks. Go figure!

But, lo! On October 2, that’s going to change. SuperVegan is proud to be sponsoring a vegan fashion show that’s coming to the Vegetarian Expo in Albany. Nine fine models — six ladies and three dudes — will strut their skinny and/or deliciously toned booties down the runway in designer vegan duds.

Chrissie Hynde To Launch New Eco-Vegan Fashion Line

At the beginning of the summer, we mentioned Chrissie Hynde’s latest musical endeavor (as part of JP, Chrissie and the Fairground Boys) and a benefit concert that she and her new band mates performed for the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary but there’s apparently a lot more to the story than meets the eye.

As it turns out, the 58 year old Pretenders frontwoman – who, on August 24, is releasing a collection of poppy, rockin’ and occasionally country-esque tunes titled Fidelity with her new musical cohorts – was so inspired by the unexpected May-December romantic relationship she forged with 33 year old Welsh producer/musician JP Jones that she’s now teaming up with him for the launch of an eco-friendly fashion line.

The Art Of Finding Truly Ethical Clothing On A Budget

This is the second part of the article I wrote last week about what the true price of cheap clothing is. I was surprised to discover that many of you are going through (or have gone through) the same moral dilemma as me. Inexpensive, cheaply made clothing produced by large companies are typically void of ethical business practices. This clothing is produced by underpaid workers, using toxic production methods for either the material or final product. Large corporations push out small businesses and designers creating a monopoly of cheaply made, cookie cutter clothing. What is an ethical girl on a budget to do?
