The Daily Must-Have: Robyn Openshaw’s Green Smoothies Diet

Among my friends and co-workers I am quickly becoming known as the green smoothie girl. I always seem to have a bottle filled with chunky blends of vegetables and fruits that can look quite unappealing to on-lookers.
A green smoothie is any blended beverage that includes some green veggies, which often turn the entire drink a shade of green. But tossing some kale and spinach into the blender isn’t an idea that I can take credit for. I am certainly not the original, nor the most famous, green smoothie girl.
Those honors go to Robyn Openshaw, author, mother, wife, and Green Smoothie Girl blogger. Her most recent book, Green Smoothies Diet, is what pushed me over the edge from avid smoothie drinker to habitual green smoothie drinker.
Making one is easy  – just throw some fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables into a high-powered blender with a little liquid, making sure to include a leafy green or two. It might be a simple meal, but the philosophy is so much more; it’s enough for Openshaw to write an entire book that is interesting from cover to cover.
Green Smoothies Diet tells you what each food offers you nutritionally, how green smoothies can and will improve your health and wellness, and it even includes a couple of Robyn’s favorite recipes.
Regardless of your current relationship with green smoothies, I recommend picking up a copy of Green Smoothies Diet by the original green smoothie girl Robyn Openshaw. But be warned: you will become addicted!

I work as a substitute teacher, mostly at middle schools. I usually hide my morning green smoothie, because it draws so much attention, that it becomes disruptive to the class. But one day I was a little off my game and the students saw my green smoothie. They were immediately curious and to this day(a year later) they still comment about my “lumpy greenish, disgusting looking drink”. But they remember it a year later, don’t they…..
