Get To Know A Candidate Countdown: Jimmy Van Bramer And Bill de Blasio
Posted in Activism on 14. Sep, 2009

As tomorrow’s primary election here in New York City gets closer, we’ve decided to double-up our candidate countdown.
As mentioned late last week, we’ve teamed up with the New York League of Humane Voters to bring you some of our favorite animal-friendly candidates. Today we’re pleased to endorse Jimmy Van Bramer And Bill de Blasio.
Jimmy Van Bramer is running for City Council for the 26th district, which includes Sunnyside, Woodside, Long Island City, and parts of Maspeth and Astoria.
Besides being a warrior for the animals, Van Bramer has played a role in successfully advocating for increased funding for local libraries, protecting the environment, securing meaningful campaign finance reform, and fighting for full equality under the law for the LGBT community and all who experience injustice.  We think he’s just great and hope that those in District 26 will consider giving him their vote. You can learn more at JimmyVanBramer.com.
Bill de Blasio is our other candidate of the day and running for public advocate.
Throughout his career, Bill has been a devoted advocate for the homeless and impoverished, public school parents, and for the rights of all New Yorkers. He’s served as Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, a member of the School Board, and the Chair of the Council’s General Welfare Committee. Over the years, Bill has proven his dedication to humans, animals and the environment, and we give him our official endorsement. To learn more visit BilldeBlasio.com.
Of course, you can find out about all the candidates at NYLHV.org! Happy voting!
