But on those leather-free boots and that sustainable cowboy hat — we’re taking a trip down south!

One our favorite food blogs, VeganYumYum.com, recently posted a recipe for Fried Green Tomatoes that we just had to share with ya’ll.

Now if  you’ve never had a fried green tomato then you might wonder what all the fuss is about. But trust me — you’ll want to try these! (Might I also recommend some cajun boiled peanuts from your favorite side-of-the-road produce stand?)

Lulu shares an important tip when shopping for the perfect tomatoes. She says: “ it’s important to pick up under ripe, very firm, completely green tomatoes. They should be about the same size as a regular tomato. Smaller green tomatoes will taste bitter, and there are varieties of tomatoes (particularly heirloom varieties) that can be green and ripe at the same time, so make sure you don’t rely on color alone.”

Got that? GOOD! Now CLICK HERE and go get this delicious recipe!

Yumo! My mom’s squirrels keep getting the tomatoes before she does, so this will be a way to get to ‘em before they do!
