You can no longer deny it: conscious consumers are on the rise and slowly beginning to dominate every market. People are getting sick and tired of supporting inhumane companies and we’re starting to take action.
In the spirit of change, the nonprofit organization Compassion Over Killing (one of our favs!) has announced their latest campaign to help Dunkin’ Donuts revamp their menu and supply vegan options for the masses. According to their site:
“There are an estimated 6,400 stores in the U.S. alone, offering more than 52 varieties of donuts–and every single donut served contains both egg and dairy products from animals forced to endure miserable conditions on today’s massive and mechanized factory farms.”
UNACCEPTABLE!
You know what? I’m gonna take this campaign one step further. If Dunkin’ Donuts makes the responsible decision to team up with Compassion Over Killing and offer vegan treats, I will not only promote the crap out of them, but I’ll also promise to personally buy one vegan donut every day for an entire year. I’m not gonna eat the donut everyday (I’ll give it to a friend or somebody in need), but I WILL buy one a day for 365 days straight. And that’s a promise.
So come on Dunkin’ Donuts! We vegans are a passionate bunch and having us on your side would DEFINITELY not be a bad thing. Get on board and help show your customers that you care about animal welfare.

Er.. check their website. Some donuts are vegan. (i.e. they contain TRACE amounts of eggs and milk) therefore, I eat donuts.

awesome campaign! i sent in my email and wrote a letter. it’d be so great, especially for animals, if they severed vegan donuts. thank you COK for taking this on.

Promoting vegan junk food is what gives the vegan diet a bad and “dangerous” reputation for not being nutritious enough for life.
Yes, vegan donuts are more humane that non-vegan donuts, but both are equally unhealthy for humans. They still contain fried white flour and sugar.
Fat, sick vegans do not well represent the vegan lifestyle, imho.

I hear you Carla, but the point is not only to provide healthy foods. The point is to stop animal suffering and offering vegan donuts definitely helps animals. It also helps the environment. People are going to buy donuts no matter what. I’d rather they be vegan than be made with animal products.

It sounds like a good idea and I hope it catches on, so other chains can offer at least one (entirely) vegan meal on their menu.

Carla: I see what you’re saying but when you think about it, people assume the only food vegans eat are healthy, bland dishes. in the american mindset, vegan food tastes like crap. i think vegan donuts would definately be a set forward.
