VegOut App For iPhone and iPod Touch Has Us Hungry
Posted in Products on 17. Mar, 2009
For any vegetarian or vegan visiting a new location, eating out can be something of a nightmare without a friend to point you in the right direction. Sure, you can always hit the web and do a bit of digging — but if you’re in a cab and feeling the hunger pangs grow, wouldn’t it be cooler just to hit a button and have all of the vegetarian-friendly eateries near you instantly appear?
Enter the VegOut application for Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch. It combines the raw power of the Happy Cow restaurant directory with the simplicity and high-tech execution of Apple’s hand held tech. Those with an iPhone have a slight advantage over touch users since the app harnesses the GPS or cell phone signal to pinpoint your location and pull in listings nearest your location. For touch users, you’ll have to be connected to a wireless signal for the app to gauge your location — and even then, it’s sometimes a bit spotty. Manually entering in your location often produces the desired effect.
But — with this app — you’ll now have a super-portable and easy way to find vegan or vegetarian-friendly restaurants. Ah, the power of instant information! For more info, jump here. For a fantastic review of the app, check out Vegan Talk!
